Over time, we have come to realize that while wine was the catalyst for our journey, Podere Le Ripi is far more than just a winery. What began as a winemaking venture has gradually evolved into a broader corporate culture and long-term vision, extending beyond agriculture and viticulture.
Our team is a growing collective of young professionals from across Italy—drawn to Montalcino for work, but over time, becoming residents, families, entrepreneurs, and even business partners within the local community. This transformation has shown us that Podere Le Ripi has the potential to make an impact beyond wine and agriculture, influencing broader social and economic spheres.
Innovation has been a driving force in this journey—whether through the integration of modern human resource practices in an industry long reliant on seasonal labor, or by redefining winery hospitality and direct-to-consumer engagement. These advancements have merged with our ambitious agricultural project, which itself was a pioneering initiative in the region.
"Almost unintentionally, we have become a hub for ideas, projects, and people, continuously branching out and inspiring new ventures—proof that our community is more than a workplace; it is a living, evolving ecosystem"
One could describe it as a wine bar with a kitchen, ideal for enjoying traditional meals and local wine tastings with a breathtaking view—but that would only scratch the surface.
Vineria Aperta was born from the dream of a team of colleagues who, first and foremost, are passionate about wine. After years of exploring the territory, their countless journeys in search of winemakers, hidden wine regions, and legendary tavern hosts evolved into something more: a new way of experiencing wine, something that we thought, was missing from the area.
A place where wine and its culture take center stage, fostering moments of sharing, education, and connection—practically every day. From masterclasses and themed dinners to winemaker meetups and tastings with wine specialists, any excuse is good enough to open a bottle—whether it’s from the area or a rare gem from across the Alps—and spark meaningful conversations about the beauty of the wine world.
Over time, Vineria Aperta has hosted everything from curated tastings and collaborative chef dinners to wine fairs, group trips, and informal gatherings of passionate drinkers. The wine cellar holds over 3,000 labels from around the world, many of them hard to find, ranging from Montalcino’s finest artisans to the great classics of France and Spain.
More than just a wine bar, Vineria Aperta is a place of inclusion—where locals and visitors connect, where newcomers to Montalcino find friendships, and where those eager to grow in the wine world are constantly stimulated by new discoveries. Simplicity and enthusiasm are at the heart of everything.
We don’t consider ourselves restaurateurs, yet food is one of our indulgences. Alongside a breathtaking wine list, we offer a menu of local products carefully chosen to complement wine—dishes meant to be shared, the kind of food that has always belonged on our tables.
Beekeeping
Often, what we do—like making wine—ends up defining who we are, categorizing us within a fixed identity. But growth comes from expanding beyond definitions. Learning beekeeping and integrating it as a business within the business quickly became one of our challenges.
None of us had prior experience, but with the arrival of Enzo, our full-time beekeeper, the project began to take shape. Many of our colleagues have since spent time among the hives or in the lab, discovering a new craft and gaining hands-on experience in an entirely different world.
With 200 hives spread across 3–4 apiaries, the goal is twofold: to contribute to the health of our ecosystem and to achieve both economic and social sustainability within this activity.
Podere Le Ripi is first and foremost a community of artisan winemakers, aware agronomists, passionate sommeliers and big wine lovers. Wine is our nourishment and we want to share this passion with our members. Our philosophy has always been oriented towards sustainability, respect for Nature and the preservation of everything that surrounds us. Our wines are made by using the biodynamic approach, and they are produced in small quantities, Mother Nature decides more than we do!
For this reason, we have decided to give our members the opportunity to sign up to our Wine Club and get priority access to our allocation. Our aim is to portray the different expression of the Montalcino’s terroirs, our wines really speak for the land, the vintage and our people.
Every vintage is a discovery, as it is every label in our selection. Every shipment is a little bit different from the previous one. Our community is constantly growing, as is our thirst and our curiosity.
Our team travels to a different wine region every year to gain inspiration for next generation wines and to help us to respond to climate change.
Among our benefits, we offer 10% off, at Mastrojanni Wine Resort.
